
Edmonton, Alberta – May 29, 2026 – The Calgary Stampeders defeated the Edmonton Elks 21-18 in a tightly fought CFL preseason exhibition contest that wrapped up both teams schedules ahead of the regular season.
Played on Friday night at Clarke Stadium in Edmonton as part of a throwback-themed evening, the game featured an hour-long weather delay due to wet conditions yet still drew more than 10000 fans who created an energetic atmosphere despite the challenges.
The Stampeders built early momentum with a one-yard touchdown run by Cole Snyder converted by Vernon Blanchard and later added a 42-yard touchdown pass from Josh Love to Dante Wright also followed by a successful extra point to keep the contest competitive from the outset.
Edmonton responded with a 63-yard punt single and a one-yard touchdown run by B. Wooldridge plus the point after to seize a temporary edge while their quarterback Cody Fajardo completed nine of 11 passes for 96 yards and standout receiver T.J. Luther hauled in four catches for 48 yards including significant yardage after the catch.
Calgary regained control in the third quarter thanks to a 47-yard field goal by Blanchard and then sealed the victory in the fourth with another short touchdown run by Snyder along with the extra point as Love finished an efficient 7-of-8 performance for 80 yards and a major.
The Elks mounted a late push with a one-yard touchdown run by J. Criswell and the conversion but could not overcome the deficit in the end.
First-string units saw limited action on both sides with Calgary resting starter Vernon Adams Jr. and Edmonton focusing on roster evaluations throughout the matchup.
The result capped an eventful preseason period for the Battle of Alberta rivals and left both organizations optimistic about the talent evaluated as they turn their attention to the upcoming regular season opener.
